Chris Johnston

At his core, Chris is a musician. He grew up spending summers on a tour bus, seeing the way fans were so deeply impacted by music. He got his first guitar at five years old. His first job was in a music store. Then he went to college to study marketing. For his senior project, he chose to create his own magazine and, of course, it was about music. Extreme Metal, specifically. For one of the articles, Chris decided to take photos at his favorite band’s show and interview them. And the rest is history. Chris found his true calling - concert photography. The blending of visual and auditory art. 

Chris has photographed all kinds of shows - dive bars to sold out stadiums - and all kinds of artists - black metal to hip hop. He lives to capture that perfect moment, because like all music lovers know, it’s almost impossible to really capture the way music makes you feel in a photo…almost.
